We install tile as part of kitchen, bathroom and broader remodeling scopes. Common applications include shower walls and floors, tub surrounds, bathroom floors, kitchen backsplashes, entries and selected feature surfaces. Each begins with the intended use, because a decorative backsplash and a wet shower floor have very different performance requirements.

Substrates are checked for soundness, flatness and compatibility with the planned assembly. Large-format pieces can make uneven surfaces and lippage more noticeable, while mosaics need careful sheet alignment and setting-bed control. In wet areas, the waterproofing system, drain, corners and penetrations are planned as an assembly; grout alone is not treated as waterproofing.

Material choices include porcelain and ceramic, stone-look patterns, subway formats, mosaics and larger rectangular tile. We discuss variation, edge profile, grout color, joint width, trim pieces and maintenance. Natural stone, where selected, may require different setting and care considerations than manufactured tile.

A dry layout or reference-line plan helps control cuts at corners, niches, outlets and focal points. We consider how the pattern meets cabinets, baseboards, tubs, flooring and adjacent rooms. Movement accommodation and changes of plane are handled with materials appropriate to the application rather than simply filling every joint the same way.

Tile work is scheduled with surrounding trades so rough plumbing, wall preparation, cabinets and fixtures happen in a sensible order. Our broader project-management approach is particularly useful where tile is one element of a bathroom or kitchen remodel, reducing gaps between demolition, preparation, installation and finish work.

Is porcelain or ceramic tile better?

Both can be appropriate. Selection depends on the rated application, absorption, finish, size, maintenance and design. Product specifications should be checked for the exact location.

Can tile go over existing tile?

Sometimes systems permit it, but only after evaluating bond, flatness, height, transitions and the existing assembly. Removal is often the more dependable route when existing conditions are uncertain.

Is grout waterproof?

Grout is not a substitute for a properly detailed waterproofing assembly in a shower or other required wet area.
